Prior to joining Abacus in 2014, Rob gained 14 years' experience at the same national practice as Ellis & Mike as a Quantity Surveyor. Rob is a highly experienced Employer's Agent and Cost Manager having undertaken both roles on numerous projects over his 25 year career.
Rob has worked on major projects across many sectors of the industry. Rob was an Associate director at Capita Symonds from 2007 to 2014. Most recently Rob has developed a portfolio of social housing developments together with delivery of a major retailer headquarters development as Employer's Agent.
Rob has extensive experience in developing projects from inception and feasibility stage both leading and assisting informing and developing the Appraisal. Rob has numerous benchmark projects and an extensive database of supplier contacts from which to draw accurate and realistic cost information to inform and produce robust cost modelling which will form the control tool for successful development and delivery of the project. Rob utilises the knowledge gained at the cost modelling stage to manage the project through construction phase in his capacity as Employer's Agent or Cost Manager.
Rob's key areas of specialism are:
- Cost planning and provision of cost advice at the inception/feasibility phase to enable formulation of a development strategy.
- Benchmarking projects in terms of cost and function to provide a framework for measuring relative project performance, minimising risk and ensuring best value is achieved.
- Project delivery as Employer's Agent working closely with the design team during the construction phase to ensure that the project's best interests are successfully delivered.
